This morning as I was driving to work one of the local radio talk shows was featuring a promo coming up in the Fort Worth newspaper. The International Bible Society has signed an agreement with the Star Telegram to distribute New Testaments in about 200,000 newspapers early this fall (you know, the kind where they provide the plastic bag for the newspapers and have the New Testaments in a pocket in the bag) (We received some individual servings of cereal the same way recently).
I'm not debating the value of the promotion they are planning, but wanted to share a thought about some comments the radio guy received. Two atheists called in, both proclaiming how they don't believe in God so books that tell about God shouldn't be distributed about someone or something that really doesn't exist. (Yes, I know it's a strange way of thinking - I'm just quoting the callers).
As they were talking, I remembered a quote from Zig Ziglar that I read recently.
"If God doesn't believe in athiests, is that proof that they don't exist?"
Well, I thought it was a good quote. Hmmmm.
For me, I stick with the old hymn that says, "I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today, I know that He is living, whatever men may say; I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer; and just the time I need Him, He's always near!"
Have a blessed week!
