While the rest of the country had their National Night Out in August, we folks in Texas were sweltering in 100-degree days. So the State of Texas scheduled their National Night Out in October, which worked out wonderfully well.

We had a good night out in Country Lakes, with the Argyle and Denton Police Departments participating, along with the Argyle Fire Department. We are working to get a neighborhood safety and crime watch program started and this was a great way to get something started.

There was a parade for all the kids on their decorated bikes. Gabriel walked in his first parade (with me, of course). He loved it, getting to walk with all the people and all the excitement. I thought his face might break from the giant smile through the whole thing. He even got to "meet a neighbor" which was a big part of the night. He even wore his own balloon to be decorated with everyone else in the parade.
