It was Saturday, the 5th of July. We were delighted to have Jamie, Dale and Alli come for a great afternoon and a Happy Birthday cookout for Alli. I hope you enjoy the pictures taken before they arrived and after they left.

Unfortunately the camera didn't come out while all the fun was going on. So you can just use your imagination.

The new smoker did great with a big slab of baby
back ribs, plus some hamburgers and hot dogs -- all the makings for a super summer holiday cookout.

After reading Jamie's blog from last weekend, we got the taste for some real homemade ice cream. The only freezer we could find was this wimpy-looking pink ice cream freezer from Wal-Mart. (Debbie says she sure does like it!!) At least it was on a half-price sale. Now the fact is that while it looks a bit wimpy, it did a fantastic job on the ice cream.

Jamie described her homemade vanilla ice cream, which was very similar to the recipe my Mother used years ago. So I decided to use that and take it one step further, adding bananas to make the best homemade banana ice cream like my Dad used to make on the I've had in years.

We're proud of Alli! She officially turns 16 on Monday and just got her driver's permit. She has some great days ahead! We're happy that she came to spend some of the 16th birthday weekend with us! And I promised to try to get a good picture the next time we get together.

Gabriel did his part, keeping the birds out of the tree all afternoon.
Jamie, Dale and Alli -- thanks for coming down and making it great day!
