The Minnesota State Fair started Thursday and we decided to go on the opening day. The weather was overcast, looking like it could rain anytime, but we went anyway. The cool air kept a lot of people away, so we got to enjoy our time there without a lot of long lines.
We made our annual trek to the dairy area where they always carve busts of the Fair Princesses out of large blocks of butter. That's pretty cool to watch them doing the carving. The girl sits in a refrigerator to keep the butter cool enough to carve.

The biggest thing about the fair is all the things you can eat on a stick. Of course, thanks to my year with Weight Watcher, we didn't hit very many of them. We had our annual pork chop on a stick, then I got a roasted corn on the cob (luv that fresh Minnesota sweet corn!).

Those overcast skies finally did turn to heavy rain, so it was time to leave. I caught a good picture of Debbie trying to keep everything under her umbrella. We saw on the news that after we left the rain got so heavy there was flooding in the streets.

Yummy corn on the cob! Nothing beats that at the fair each year! Our fair is coming up, and I'm looking forward to having a big ear of buttery corn at the 4H booth! I'm glad y'all made it out before the flooding of the streets!
Love,
Becky
You definitely make me crave corn too! Our fair starts in 2 weeks and we usually try to go out and have an ear of corn and a pork chop sandwich. We don't ride the rides, but do enjoy looking at the animals and seeing some of the shows.
I sure hope your house sells soon so you will be closer!
Love,
Jamie
