A Special Day Today

Happy Saturday Evening,

We had a beautiful day here in Elk River today -- bright sun shine and temperature in upper 70's. Forecast for Sunday is in low 80's and they say this should be the last weekend when we see temps in the 80's. The Minnesota State Fair (one of the 5 largest in the country) starts next week and we're starting to wind down the summer into autumn. The sun has already taken on an autumn appearance! Very, very nice.

I did some painting today in the dining room and entry areas, just sprucing up the house a little bit for when the realtors show it. We've had a lot of activity recently on showings -- looking forward to the day when an offer to buy comes in. Our new house is ready in Texas -- just waiting for this one to sell. We've loved our seven years here -- now it's time to head south again. The packing is well underway.

While painting this afternoon I received a phone call from AmaLou Harris, my Mother's niece who used to come visit some when I was very little. I had only talked with her once since my Mother's death. We had a delightful visit and caught up a lot -- talked of getting together as soon as we move south. She told me about another cousin, Valera Jo, whom I haven't seen since I was a very young boy. Today was her 66th birthday, so I got her phone number and called her. I think she was just a bit surprised to hear from me -- after I helped her figure out who I was.

I hope you had a great day today, too, with lots of good blessings. Tomorrow we get to go join with others and worship our Lord! I hope you're doing that too. Blessings to anyone reading this !
