The Morning Moment

Early this morning I had one of those Morning Moments that I hope to never repeat. I literally got out up on the wrong side of the bed here at the hotel. It was still dark -- and the alarm clock was on the far side of the bed. Instead of flopping across the bed to turn it off, I decided to get up and walk around. There was this big TV cabinet and dresser. It has an extremely HARD base!! And there is no "give" to it. My little toe on my left foot had a collision in the dark.

PAIN! AGONY! Writhing in shooting pains and stars! OUCH! I fell on the bed and lay there for a few minutes -- the pain got worse for a while, then finally lessened a bit. I sat up and looked at my toe. My little toe was signaling for a left turn -- pointed to the left, appearing to have been knocked out of it's socket. My goodness that hurt!

I debated on which hospital I should go to. Then I remembered my Mother's instruction -- never go to the hospital without a shower -- so I took care of business. It was strange -- shaving, facing the mirror, with my toe pointed toward the bed, obviously wanting me to lay down and moan.

I forced my foot into my shoe. That was an experience! I finally got the shoe on and hobbled down to where my co-workers were in the breakfast nook. They laughed! Until I showed them the picture.

Well, as the day progressed, my shoe forced the toe to face forward again and by afternoon it only hurt when I moved my foot or held it still. When I returned to the hotel I put on my athletic shoes and turned on the pump -- ah, feels fairly good. But now I have to take them off. I'm putting a pillow at the corner of the dresser tonight.

That little toe can sure make its presence known!

Ouch...I do not envy you at all, but I'm sure most of us can relate to that somewhat. Hope the rest of your time this week goes better and your toe doesn't hurt too much! As for the picture, do you have the ability to send picture messages from your phone to e-mail? That's how I get my pics off my phone.

Poor Dad! That looks really painful. Flylady says to keep you lace up shoes on all day...perhaps you should also sleep in yours so they'll protect you in the mornings.
