Fun at the Fair

We went to the North Texas State Fair in Denton recently. There's not a whole lot to be said for it. Debbie's comment is that it was bigger than the Sherburne County Fair in Elk River. But that's about all. There was more free stuff to enjoy at the Sherburne County Fair.

There was a larger amusement park area with more rides, though the prices were way more scary than the rides themselves.

The one area where we had some brief fun was at the hoola-hoop competition. They wouldn't let me enter -- they said swinging it on my wrist didn't count. So Debbie jumped right in and showed her talent!! At the time she "competed", she won first prize. Well, the fact is that she was the only contestant at the time.

There really weren't that many people there. They have a rodeo each evening -- that's where all the people were. We thought about staying until we saw the $5 corn dogs and $5 cokes. We thought about how we would feel after a $20 meal of a corn dog and coke each and left -- stopping at Whataburger on the way home for some good down-home hamburgers.
We'll be watching for the State Fair of Texas in October. We've heard much better reports on that one.
