I mentioned in the earlier blog about the Canadian election campaign now in progress. There's one thing I really do like about the Canadians and that I wish we could pick up on in the USA. Their election campaigns.
When an election date is set in Canada, the campaign season is limited to SIX WEEKS! Can you imagine that? They can't start early or they are disqualified.
Wouldn't that be wonderful? Compare that to TWO YEARS of campaigning that we have in the US national election process, along with 24-hr coverage of the media's favorite candidates.
Just think -- with only six weeks, the candidates would have to actually get with it and tell the people where they stand, what they want to do, and why they are the best one to get it done. Though they get into the other stuff, they have little time to spend spreading hate and mistrust about all the other candidates.
Ah, sweet dreams of a better way to have an election. But just think -- we only have 14 months to go in our campaign. They've been at it for a year, and very little of value has been said.
Just my opinion in comparing the two election processes.
