Flag Day Request

June 14 has been designated as "FLAG DAY" across our United States of America. Way back in 1949 did something positive, designating this day and this week as a time to display our flag, representing our honor for our country. Our flags will be flying all day. For this Flag Day Debbie and I have a special prayer request for you. A couple of weeks ago we met a young man and his wife at Denton Bible Church where we have been attending recently. The couple of Max and Jamie Winter. I would guess that Max and Jamie are in their early 20's. Max volunteered for the US military after he graduated from school and is serving our country in Iraq. When we met him he was home on 2-weeks leave. This week he is returning to Iraq to complete his tour of duty.

As we visited with him, I got to thinking. Max is only a very few years older than our two oldest grandsons, Derek and Tyler, and close to the age of Kendra and JD. He's probably a few years younger than Travis. That drove home a personal connection for Debbie and me. Max looks like a fine young man with solid plans and dreams for his future with Jamie. We promised him that we would be two new prayer partners for him during the remainder of his tour of duty in Iraq.

Would you join us in praying for Max? Maybe you already have other friends and acquaintances serving our country. Let's be sure we keep on praying for them. And while we're at it, let's pray for peace in that country so that our troops can come home honorably. I'm not interested in the democrats plan to surrender and run home, but I sure do pray for peace. And yes, I believe God can intervene even in the hearts of terrorists and insurgents and radical religionist anyplace. We've seen Him do it before. We're praying for him to do it again.
