First Trip to Six Flags Over Texas

Last Friday I took the day off work so that Debbie and I could spend a day unwinding and relaxing at Six Flags Over Texas. This was the first time in years for either of us. I have to confess -- we had a great time. It wasn't always so "relaxing" -- sometimes it was rather stressful, especially for the one of us who is writing this blog. I handle the rides down just fine -- but that long pull up the incline on some of the rides just doesn't fit for this boy.
When we got tired, it was time for a ride on the old train that loops around the border of the park.

The Roaring Rapids was a great ride on the river -- both of us getting soaked. Of course our first ride had to be on the old "Runaway Mine Train" -- that one was there years ago and it's still one of the more popular rides.
Do you remember the old-time cars - the ones anyone of any age can drive and never have to worry about running off the road? We took the ride -- I did the photography from the back seat while Debbie took care of the driving.
The log ride (it's got a new name, but the same old log ride) was fun, but too much water to try taking pictures.

We saw a lot of really high rides that we stayed away from -- SuperMan, BatMan and the really big roller coasters. I'll leave those for the young folks that don't know enough to stay off of them.
Hey, it's an amusement park. The word "muse" means to think. Putting the alpha in front of it reverses the word. So literally an amusment park is a place where you do not think about what you're doing. If you did, you probably wouldn't do most of it. But it was still a great day for us.
We needed this day -- and it was definitely a great day! Come on down to see us sometime this summer and we'll be delighted to do it again!

Just me said...

I'm sure you two had a great time acting like kids. I'm with you, no wild rides for me anymore. I'll leave those to the crazy kids. I remember the older rides at Six Flags. I look forward to going again sometime!
