We had a surprise treat recently. Our very good friend Jim Burkett, formerly from Stillwater and now living in Athens Georgia, came through DFW. We had planned to meet for an early dinner as he was on his way to speak in a Bible Conference in Oklahoma. We wound up having winter that day (In Elk River winter lasted for 6 months, but in Argyle it only lasts for one day). Jim's plane landed at DFW just as our one big snowstorm of the season hit. We wound up getting 6-7 inches of wet snow, making travel treacherous in this area. No one in Texas has heard of snow plows since they would only need one every few years.
The treat for us was that Jim wound up spending the night with us, giving us good time to catch up with a lot of visiting. Jim was my Pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater and was a genuine friend and brother who stood with me and prayed me through the time of healing, growth and transition when I first moved to Stillwater and went to work for Armstrong.
He even got to have some of Debbie's homemade soup and cornbread! Now that's the way to spend a cold, snowy evening!
What a blessing to when God surprises us with extra time with special friends!!
