Pro Football - One Interest

It's Thanksgiving Day! It's the day when the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys always play home games. Years ago when they played football in open stadiums it was always fun to watch the Lions play and get all excited when it started snowing. That was really something for us southerners to see snow on Thanksgiving Day. After 7 years in beautiful Minnesota it doesn't seem so unusal anymore. Now it seems unusual for it to be so warm on Thanksgiving.
This is Marion Barber, who came to the Cowboys from the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Now of course the Lions play in a fully enclosed stadium so we don't see the snow anymore. (Al Gore would blame that on global warming and fly his chartered jet someplace to make a speech and tell how it is George Bush's fault!) And the Cowboys play in their partially enclosed Texas Stadium tonight, waiting for their new billion-dollar stadium to be completed in Arlington that will have a roof that can be fully open or completely closed.

Did you hear the news this week about the sideline tickets that are now going on sale? To get a season ticket on any level of the sidelines, you first have to pay $16,000, $35,000 or $50,000 and that guarantees you the right to buy season tickets for the next 30 years. I think I'll pass on that one. But remember, that doesn't get you a ticket -- only the right to buy a ticket. The tickets in that area will cost $340 per seat per game. And parking will cost another $75 per game. I hesitate to ask how much the hot dogs and drinks will cost.

And just think -- one of our fine slimy democrat senators announced last week that he was going to start an investigation into the high income of certain Christian ministries! Maybe someone ought to look at the senators and pro sports first.

By the way, I'm gradually getting back to enjoying and cheering for the Cowboys again. They were my team years ago before Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer became Dallas coaches. That ended it for me. Add to that 7+ years of cheering for the Vikings, pleasure-boat excursions aside, and I wasn't a Cowboy fan for a long time. I'm trying to come back.

Happy Thanksgiving!
