One of Edmonton's claim to fame has been their "West Edmonton Mall". For years it was billed as the largest indoor mall in the world. And it kept that claim -- until Minnesota built the Mall of America. When I was in Edmonton the last time and still lived in Minnesota, folks here would make faces at me when they found out where I lived.

The mall certainly is big. You can walk a long way in their to find anything. Glenn and I walked quite a bit of it in less than 30 minutes and saw all we needed to see -- just to say we had been there.
Here are just a few pictures so you can see just a bit of the West Edmonton Mall. No, I didn't take many pictures of stores. Once you've seen one store, you've seen them all!

They have a water park in the mall, rather than the amusement park at Mall of America. There is a big wave pool with a lot of water slides. Since it's all enclosed the people are able to use it year round.

There is also a large water show area with a full size replica of the Santa Maria ship -- also a show area where they have a trained seal doing shows 4 times a day.
They also have a giant indoor ice rink where they have open skating, ice hockey, figure skating and apparently much more.
