It is true -- we are back in Texas. Two weeks ago a tornado hit Haltom City TX about 20 miles south of us, ending the lives of two men and tearing up some homes and businesses. Then yesterday, we had tornado warnings most of the evening and water everyplace!
Unofficially we had 6+ inches of rain yesterday afternoon and evening! That's a LOT of water for flat, dry Texas. When I was driving home, Highway 377 was under about 6 inches of water, even with a 4-foot drainage ditch beside the highway. As I passed by the Argyle First Baptist Church, only the church sign revealed the presence of a driveway. It looked like Lake Argyle.
We had a report of a tornado in south Denton, but that hasn't been confirmed. It was actually in Southeast Denton quite a few miles from where we live. Happy to report zero injuries and only a small amount of damage - except to one small restaurant that will now have a special on splinters. It was flattened.
Last weekend I celebrated having planted my first trees in our new yard. This evening I will replant 3 of them that washed out and laid down in the wind.
The good news to share is that we are all ok, high and dry and no damage in our neighborhood. Just lots and lots of water.
Blessings to you and yours today. I hope to have some pictures of our new trees sometime this week.
