We started Sunday morning having breakfast with JD, Kendra, Dylan and Ryan in Stillwater OK. Then after fueling the two vehicles, we headed south toward Edmond and Oklahoma City.
We waited in Oklahoma City until their worship services were completed and then met Dale, Jamie & Allison for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Oklahoma City. Derek was at work at Sam's Club so we didn't get to see him yet.
Then we were southbound to Texas, stopping at the visitor information center just inside the Texas border. It probably won't come as a surprise that we went directly to Country Lakes Estates to see our new house. JR Cooper, our sales rep, was still at the model home and met us at the house to let us in. This was Debbie's first time to see the house since we first found it in July. Gabriel had a ball exploring the house with no barricades and no stairs.
Tomorrow morning we take our final walk-through and then will learn the schedule for closing. We're ready for that so we can start the unloading process. I plan to post some pictures of the new home tomorrow night.
I've said it before -- and one more time seems appropriate tonight. This is definitely like sweet and sour sauce. The sour is the part of having to leave our home in Elk River that we loved so much and so many terrific friends there. We have been so blessed these past 7 1/2 years with a wonderful church and a great neighborhood filled with so many great friends. I'm happy that so many of those friendships will continue for years to come.
The sweet part, of course, is starting a whole new chapter in our lives with our new home in Argyle. We're confident that God will help us find a new church where we can fit, and we're looking forward to meeting our new neighbors very soon.
One more note about the drive southbound from Elk River. In spite of all the snow and ice storms and threats of severe weather happening across the midwest, we have been blessed with beautiful traveling weather all the way. Some areas had snow or ice storms the day before we came through, but as we traveled we had bright shining sun and no storms anyplace. In Stillwater OK we experienced something we haven't seen for 7 years -- streets covered with snow and ice from the day before and no chance of it being cleared soon. But with only one road grader and a couple of front-end loaders, they're not well-equipped to clear their streets very fast.
More news as it happens! Rich blessings to you and yours tonight.
