Winter is Coming

It was only 3 weeks ago that autumn arrived -- and now we're quickly getting ready for winter in beautiful Elk River! Last weekend it was beautiful here -- upper 70's, bright sunshine, even with some strong breezes. Earlier today it was 61 degrees. Then I watched as the outdoor thermometer began to drop. A half hour later it was 51 and now it's in the mid-40's. Our forecast is for first hard freeze tonight with possibility of an inch of snow. Of course the early forecasts for snow rarely come about, so we'll see if it really happens.

Do you remember all those leaves on the trees just a couple of weeks ago? About 75% of them have made it down to the yard. I've removed 11 contractor bags full of leaves so far and the yard is already covered again.

Since some form of cold precipitation is coming tonight, it was time to get everything in from the yard. While I worked, Gabriel tried on his new winter coat and played in the back yard. Like most "little boys", he loves playing in the leaves. And then after a time of playing hard, he's ready to crash in his bed.

Keep on praying with us for a buyer to come soon for our Elk River home. We learned this afternoon that we have an "interested candidate" from a showing this past weekend, but it will be a couple of weeks before the family is back in town to make a final choice.

Stay warm tonight! I'll let you know if the snow comes.

Just me said...

That is great news about the possible interested party. I sure hope they buy your house. If you make it look like it isn't a big deal on cleaning out the leaves, then maybe they'll offer a purchase price next time they are around.

It is cool in OK today. I had to pull out long-sleeves to stay warm.

I look forward to hearing about the sale of your home.
