Try to Imagine...

Last weekend we had dinner with some new friends over in Flower Mound. It was an enjoyable evening, getting to know some new friends and spend some time visiting. It takes a while to connect in a new area.

As we visited, the man told us of how his wife was very active in her church, read her Bible all the time and prayed a lot and that he was all for her doing that. I picked up on some of the ways he described her and asked about him and his faith. His response was interesting. He said he is a Christian, but he doesn't do church, doesn't read the Bible, doesn't pray. Debbie and I both shared a few things about our personal faith and relationship with God, including telling him of God's grace in bringing us together.

As we were driving home I got to thinking about the various "kinds" of Christians. Some are sold out for the Lord and let it show; some are sort of moderately active in their faith; and way too many are those who "take it or leave it", which usually means leaving it much more than taking it.

From those thoughts I got to thinking of what it might be like if just half of the people who claim to be Christians were to really practice their faith where they live. Can you try to imagine that? (I'm not speaking of a particular denomination or worship practice -- I'm talking about being a Follower of Jesus -- that's really what it means to be a Christian).

I'm going to keep imagining about that and maybe write some more soon. Just think about it though. What if... Let's try to imagine!
