A Topsy Turvy Backyard

Have you seen those TV commercials about the Topsy Turvy Tomato planters? These are the plasticized holders that grow the tomato plants out the bottom. The commercials make it look so nice and simple -- hang them anyplace and watch them grow.

Since I've had such poor luck growing tomatos in this fine Texas prarie clay the last two summers I decided to try them. I can tell you that so far the plants are doing well and we already have our first blooms -- tomatos might get here this summer!!

One little point that they don't mention in the commercials. When you put in the tomato plant, fill it with dirt, then water it adequately, that cute little bag weighs 25-35 pounds. A shephers's hook won't hold them. (I have a shepherd's hook with a new custom design that includes a 60 degree angle).

Come on, Tomatos!! We're ready for some fresh ones right from the topsy turvy planter!
