Over the River and Through the Woods...

The old song from years ago said "Over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house we go...". Times have changed in these modern days and we go the other way now --- "Over the river and through the woods to Grandkids house we go...".

I thought that might be a good way to start the posts about our fast trip to Becky's home in TN. We really did go over the Red River, Arkansas River, Sabine River and of course the mighty Mississippi at Memphis.

The woods? Well, they were just scattered all along the way from East Texas across Arkansas.

We left home early Friday morning after getting the van serviced for our 8-hour drive to Memphis. Thanks to road construction delays and accidents along the way, our 8-hour drive wound up being about 11 hours. But the good news is that we made it just fine, arriving at Becky and Bruce's home about 7 pm.

It seemed to take forever to get out of Texas, but crossing Arkansas went pretty fast. Sorry, no pictures on entry to Tennessee -- too dark by the time the we got there.

That is a long road across Arkansas. It seems like forever on the road when I've driven it.
