A Fair to Remember

Monday, Labor Day 2008, we went to the Minnesota State Fair with our good friends Wayne and Linda. The fair is publicized as the "Great Family Get-Together". The fair runs for 12 days each year, ending on Labor Day. It's one of the oldest and largest State Fairs in the country. If you've ever seen the old movie, "So Dear to My Heart", you'll recognize the street name where the fair entrance is located -- "Dan Patch Avenue".
I'll just post a few pictures here so that you can see a bit of what we enjoyed. The fair has always been a fun day -- this year was even better being able to share it with good friends.

How about a little shrub trimmed to look like a daschund?

One of my favorite stops at the Minnesota State Fair is the Corn Roast booth where you can get fresh roasted Minnesota Sweet Corn, all you want, for $3 a cob. And it's worth every penny of that!! They just pull it out of the roaster, pull back the shuck, swather it with butter and then it's all yours.

The corn is always one of our fair favorites.... that and the cinnamon rolls, corn dogs, and don't forget the jug of ice cold root beer.
