Funny Things That are Said

Occasionally we hear and read things that make us do a double-take. I had one of those Saturday night at the ballpark, then one more today as I was driving home from work.

We entered the parking lot at the ballpark, paid the parking fee and got a receipt. The receipt said on the front side that the receipt had to be left on the dash of the car where it could be seen. Fair enough -- that's normal.

On the backside of the receipt were the instructions to take the receipt to any dining facility in the stadium "during the game" and receive a free drink with any entree.

Hmmmm. How do you leave it in the car and take it with you at the same time?

The second interesting thing happened while I was driving home today. A "special news report" told about a study showing that all fast food kids' meals were unhealthy -- too much salt, too much fat and too many calories. (Surprise!! No one knew that, did they?). Then when the report was finished, the announcer said "This special report has been brought to you by Sonic and their featured "Fried Ice Cream Blast. Get yours tonight!"

Well, I thought it was funny.

Interesting... Most schools have snack machines full of sugary-fat-filled items and pop machines filled with sugar-caffeine loaded energy drinks.

Alli has a meeting with her advisor at her new school next week on Tues morning, then parent/student orientation Tues night then the first day of school on Friday, August 15. She is looking forward to it. The advisor was impressed that she called him at 8 this morning and scheduled her advisor meeting for 8:30 a.m. next week. He said most kids sleep all day, not her.

Glad to see Alli taking hold of getting this all set up. It shows very good initiative on her part, which is always a plus in these special opportunities.

See you real soon. School support is on the way.
