A Walk toward the Future

I'm pretty sure that there is a part of my trip that you want to see the most and it probably isn't the scenery. So I'll save that for some later blogs. Shortly after arriving at our hotel, we walked over to a grocery store. I thought this picture of David and Mila walking just ahead of me was a good way to start introducing you to Mila. On our second morning we had a nice rain shower. I caught this picture of Mila as she was about to hail a taxi for another exciting ride.
Mila is a delightful young lady who speaks almost as much English as I speak Spanish. But with bilingual David there, our languages were never a barrier. It wasn't long after I met her that I was referring to her as "Senorita dulce" ('dul-say') (a sweet young lady!). Over the next week or so I might tell you more about getting to know Mila, but I have to tell you, the thing I like most about her is the way she blesses David and brings the joy and smiles out of him. He's always a happy guy, but I've seen the lights come on as he talks about her and just walks around talking with her and being around her -- and the feeling definitely seems mutual. I can understand that, knowing how much I enjoy being with Debbie or talking with or about her. There isn't much that brings me more joy than to see my children blessed and filled with joy. Mila's full name is Luz Milaidi Riano Gomez, but she always goes by Mila. David gave her the earrings she is wearing when he was there for his first trip to Bogota.
