Peach Tree Farms

We were able to leave Stillwater early in the afternoon and were able to go by one of our favorite Oklahoma stops, Peach Tree Farms, just north of Stratford and Ada near Galey, OK.

Before we moved to Minnesota we used to stop by there frequently in the summer on trips between Stillwater and Southeast Oklahoma and always get some of the best fresh peaches. They grow them right there in their orchard and they are always the best.

On a less happy note, we learned that the lady who has run Peach Tree Farms from the beginning became aware of a cancer in her body and she passed away in March. We got to visit with her daughter-in-law who is has worked there since marrying into the family 16 years ago. She was surprised that we remembered her wedding pictures from 16 years ago.

Peach Tree Farm's popularity has grown, however, and now it is needful to call ahead and order peaches to be able to get the #1 peaches. Special orders use up most of their day's harvest, leaving little for drive-by folks. Today we were able to get a box of #2 peaches, but have already reserved some for our next trip through there.
There was one very positive note for today's visit. In addition to the peaches, a local farmer was there selling fresh okra that had just been picked this morning! Now that got Debbie excited. So excited that she brought home 20 pounds of fresh okra.
We'll be busy tomorrow evening preparing lots of okra and peaches for the freezer. And maybe we'll even have a great supper of fresh okra!

There's just nothing like fresh peaches, peach jam, peach ice cream, and maybe even a cobbler sometime to enjoy right after a dinner of fresh okra!

I saw lots of peaches at our farmer's market yesterday. I think they were thirds or fourths....

I would like to place a special order for a few jars of Debbie's peach jam. Last year's was superb!!!
