DC to DC

My trip home last Saturday went from DC to DC before continuing on the DFW. I left Bogota DC at 9:00 that morning, flying to Miama, where I changed planes and landed in Washington DC about 6:00 that evening. After a quick supper in the Reagan Airport terminal, I headed on toward home, arriving at DFW at 9:00 pm. That was a good 12 hours of travel and another very interesting day.

I can't imagine how anyone could get on a plane by mistake in Bogota. There were actually 7 check points before I got on the plane. The first stop is at the government office to get a permit to leave the country. Then to the first AA station where they confirm reservation and identify bags to be checked. Next is the ticket counter where you get your boarding pass.

Then on to security, then the first customs check point, followed by customs bag check. That gets you to the concourse. At the gate there is one last bag check of carry-on bags. And then you're on your way home on another of those wide-body American Airlines Airbus jets.
I got one last good look at Bogota de Colombia before heading north to Miami, and then on to Washington, District of Columbia. Both carry the similar Columbia/Colombia name, but very different cities. And both are capitals of their respective country. You get a great view of the National Capital building and the Washington Monument when landing at Reagan Airport.
I had never seen Cuba in person before -- and didn't really see much of it on the trip. I did see the north and south coasts, but all the rest was covered with clouds. This weekend I'll post a few more pictures from the south -- hey, remember that I took over 250 pictures, so there are plenty more to share. I was so blessed that David invited me to join him for this very special trip!!
