It's Friday evening and I'm determined to get some good "catch up" going on the blog this weekend.
Last night Debbie and I were relaxing a little bit after work and had the TV on to American Idol. What a happy surprise when the whole group of singers came out singing "Shout to the Lord". And several of the singers gave the appearance of being very familiar with the song and with the One the song is about.
But that wasn't the first witness to our Lord heard on American Idol. A couple of weeks ago Dolly Parton was the featured guest and several of the songs she sang were songs about the Lord, including one in which the lead line was "I've got Jesus". Later in the program when she was talking with Ryan Secrest and he said something about Simon, Dolly Parton commented, "Well, you've got Simon but I've got Jesus!"
Yes, there's a lot of junk on TV, including those poor folks who have no vocabulary so use various words of profanity to see how far they can go. But the result of much of that is that many who are Followers of our Lord Jesus are becoming much more outspoken. And that's a special surprise blessing!
