Happy Groundhog Day!

It's February 2, 2008, Ground Hog Day! Reports from Punxsutawney PA tell us that over 30,000 people gathered to see Puncsutawney Phil come out and see his shadow this morning. That, of course, brings the news that winter will last for another six weeks.

What a surprise!

Groundhog Day goes back to German roots, with February 2 being the German holiday of Candlemas. There have only been 15 times in the last 100 years when Phil did not see his shadow, predicting an early end to winter.

I checked out news photos online this morning and grabbed a couple of them to pass along to you. At least the folks there have a little bit better judgement when it comes to presidential candidates!

I just might have to take Debbie out for a Groundhog Sandwich this morning!
