First Trees // Not First Fruits

If you've read your Bible much in the Old Testament you probably saw something about First Fruits. Well, it will be a few years before we have First Fruits at our new home. But last weekend I had a formal planting of "FIRST TREES"!

Yes, I know we already had one tree in the front yard and one in the backyard that came with the house, but this was our first day of planting.

"Thanks" to my Sweet Bride Debbie for taking the pictures!

The little cluster of trees you see here are three little Red Bud trees that we hope will grow up together to make a nice little shady area with lots of bright red color in the spring. I planted a dwarf plum tree too and will post of picture soon.

The fun part about the Red Bud trees was that I got to plant them. Then the big storm came this week. And today I got to plant them again. The dwarf plum tree has protective straps to hold it down. The Red Buds were too little for the straps and they sort of floated up out of their new home.

They're looking good now. I invite you to come see them soon.

Coming this weekend: Pictures of the little dwarf plum, plus we're off to Oklahoma for cook-out, lots of labor, and birthday party! More news here, probably on Sunday afternoon.

And it didn't rain in North Texas today!

Two weeks ago the news people reported that the lakes around here were 12 to 15 feet below normal after a few drought years. After two weeks of serious rain, they reported today that more than half of the lakes are at normal level, a couple of them a couple of feet over normal, and the others just holding for a little bit more rain to top them off.

That's a lot of water, folks. Have a great weekend!
