Twas the Night Before...

This is Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. We spent the day moving ahead with packing, reducing what has already been packed, and a lot of cleaning and preparation for next week. We have just a few days of preparation left. Wednesday morning I'll pick up the truck and spend the day loading it. Then Thursday morning we close on our Elk River house and start the drive southbound to Texas.

This morning I looked out the bedroom window and saw that backyard that I love so much, so got out the camera for a few more shots. I've spent a lot of good time out in that yard, sometimes mowing, sometimes raking. Once when I transplanted a dogwood shrub to the back, the hole I dug wound up being a perfect circle around a huge boulder. We have the boulder in the garage now and hope to be able to get it on the truck to take to our new home. I hope the weight isn't too much. It was a real challenge getting it up the hill to the garage using a 2-wheel dolly and a lot of energy!

Of course you knew I would have to include a picture of Gabriel playing in the leaves raked into the back corner.

Saturday will be one more good day to make final preparations, after which the weather is forecast to turn back to winter, with highs in low 20's on truck-loading day. It's going to be an interesting week. We're praying for a 24-hour delay in the cold front coming through.

Just me said...

Your home was beatiful and I'm sure the new owners will love all of the work you put into the yard and house.

Your new home will be ten times better since you'll be closer.
