The Adventure Advances

The Adventure of our Moving Experience has moved to the next level. Tonight, Thursday, November 30, we are in Des Moines, Iowa, getting some rest and preparing to head on south tomorrow morning.

Yesterday was packing and loading day as we moved our of our beautiful Elk River home. We are so appreciative of some very wonderful friends from our church and our neighborhood who came to help us throughout the day. Linda, whom I have mentioned in earlier blogs, came first and went to work. She worked with Debbie until time for her to go to work at the Abba Crisis Pregnancy Center, then returned afterward and worked late in the evening. Susan arrived a little after Linda did and was a great help to Debbie in cleaning the house. Her husband, Norm, joined her when he got work and they both worked until late. Mark Collier, our Worship Arts Pastor at Northwood, came out a little before noon and help with breaking down beds and loading the truck for 2-3 hours.

Then let me tell you about two of our terrific neighbors, Mark and Kristin. First of all, Kristin made a crockpot of homemade chili before she went to work and brought it over for everyone to have some lunch. That was SO nice and SO good! Then she came back after her day at work and said "I'm here to work - where do I start!" And she DID work. Later in the day her husband, Mark, joined us and he and I worked in the garage cleaning it out. Mark and Kristin wound up working with us until well after midnight Wednesday! How can I ever say "thank you" enough?! We would never have completed the work without all the help of these wonderful friends.

Not only that, because of some extra equipment that needed to go south with us, I had to change from a trailer to carry the car and instead use a regular trailer to move that equipment. Mark and Kristin volunteered to let us leave the Camry at their house until we can plan a trip to retrieve it and drive it to Texas.

To all these wonderful friends, we again want to say "Thank You"!
