She's Back!!! Really!

I'm happy to report that my Precious Bride is back online on her blog, "Grandma's Treasure Chest"! You can check out her re-entry to blogworld by clicking on this link.

You'll see her reminder about October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a close topic for me this year. One of my co-workers who reports to me and works in our Cincinnati office has spent this year in a battle against breast cancer. It was diagnosed right at the end of last year. In early January she had radical surgery and was off work for a couple of months. She is back now, working from her home. She went through several months of chemotherapy and has had another follow-up surgery since then. It has been quite the experience, even from my perspective, to "walk with her", such as a distant co-worker can, as she has gone through this battle. It isn't over yet, but she is making good progress after a very difficult year.

Her faith is strong -- it was already strong before her battle began. And she has a good, strong, faith-filled church family there in Cincinnati who has stood with her through this.

Vikki is just one of the reasons why, as Debbie mentioned, that we support various breast cancer functions and organizations. And as tough as they can be, Debbie gets her physical exams every year as a preventive measure. And for that, I thank her every time. Vikki's cancer was found during her annual check-up. One of Debbie's close friends and former co-workers from before our marriage waited too long and is now with the Lord after losing her battle with breast cancer. Suzanne, too, had a strong faith and stayed strong with the Lord throughout her battle.

Contrary to what some religionists may say, a strong faith does not always keep the battles away. But a strong faith does ensure that during battles a person will be held strong by our Lord.

I may tell you more about the rest of my work team in another blog. It's definitely an interesting and very diverse team. For now though please get your annual check-up. Oh, and you still need to check out Grandma's Treasure Chest -- much more on the Breast Cancer Awareness topic.
