People Are Funny!

When I was a little kid, there was a TV show on with Art Linkletter called "People Are Funny". It centered around just watching people do the things they do. And it really was funny. Most of the time. And yes, I'm one of them.

It's been interesting seeing and reading the hype around the book and coming movie, "The DaVinci Code". No, I haven't read it -- not for any reason other than I just haven't gotten into it. I might go see the movie, but only because Tom Hanks always does a good job on his movie roles.

There sure is a lot of hype about it. Churches have had "studies" on it. In fact our church is planning a series of classes about it while the movie is hot.

Isn't it interesting? We treat a novel as truth, and so often, we treat the Truth as though it was a novel.

We read the Truth, the Bible, and some think "hmmmmmm, do people really believe that?". But we read a novel, such as "The DaVinci Code" and think, "Oh my, that must be true."

At least Ron Howard, (aka Opie on the Andy Griffith Show years ago), director of the movie, had it right. He said, "It's a novel, a made-up story. Why is there a controversy?"

If you want an entertaining story, read a good novel or go to a movie. If you want truth, check out the Truth, The Word of God, the Bible.

People are funny.

I love reading the Bible. It says in the Word that blessed is the man who meditates in the law DAY and NIGHT!
